LATEST | Demko makes Canucks history during Monday's win over Chicago
On Monday night, the Vancouver Canucks hosted the Chicago Blackhawks at Rogers Arena in what was supposed to be Connor Bedard's first game in his hometown, but unfortunately due to injury, he was unable to play.
Without Bedard to worry about on the ice, the Canucks played quite well against the last place team in the Central Division, walking away with a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Pius Suter and Quinn Hughes, along with a 31-save shutout from Thatcher Demko.
With the win, Demko moved up to 25 wins on the season, which leads the National Hockey League and in doing so, made some Vancouver Canucks history.
According to Sportsnet Stats, Demko is now the fastest player in Vancouver Canucks history to reach 25 wins in a season, which he achieved in 34 games. The previous record was held by Ryan Miller, who reached 25 wins in 39 games during the 2014-15 season.
"Thatcher Demko is the fastest goalie to 25 wins in a season in #Canucks history (34 games).
The previous record was 39 games by Ryan Miller in 2014-15."
Demko, a native of San Diego, California has a record of 25-8-1 with a 2.40 goals against average, a .922 save percentage and five shutouts. The 28-year-old is only four wins away from passing Dan Cloutier for fourth on the Canucks' all-time goalie wins list.
Do you think Demko will finish his career with the most wins in Vancouver Canucks history, which is currently 252 held by Roberto Luongo? Let us know what you think in the poll below!
