The Canucks acquired Elias Lindholm from the Calgary Flames at the very beginning of the NHL All-Star break. A blockbuster deal that saw five pieces going the other way, it's fair to say that, in the end, the Canucks acquired the better player.

Now that the break had ended, the players gathered and came together for their skate with the team's new number, 23.

Lots of questions had yet to be answered, particularly regarding the spot Lindholm would occupy on the Canucks' top six. After his first practice, Rick Tocchet gave a better idea of his plans as they head into the Swede's first game with the club.

The Miller line remained unchanged with Suter on the left side, and Lindholm practiced on Mikheyev and Pettersson's left, filling what used to be Kuzmenko's spot.

The Lindholm acquisition will give Tocchet lots of room to play with on his top six. A versatile forward who plays a steady 200-foot game and can play both as a centerman and a winger. If need be, the Lotto Line can be put back together without having a void in the middle of the second line.

We should know more regarding Lindholm's place on the team's particular unit. Known to be an efficient player on the Faceoff dots and the penalty kill, he'll be getting opportunities there. It wouldn't be a surprise if he were also granted looks on the top power play.
