LATEST | Patrik Allvin speaks on new multi-year contract extension
Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin just celebrated two years with the club this week, and has been rewarded with a multi-year contract extension as a result of his hard work. The team holds a 33-11-5 record going into the All-Star break, which puts them in a tie with the Boston Bruins for first place in the NHL.
Allvin spoke to the media for the first time since signing the contract on Wednesday, and made it clear that his goal was to remain focused and continue to push forward:
We still have a lot of work ahead of us and we need to continue to push and build and raise the bar here to go where we need to be. I think that the direction is clearly there, but we need to push forward.
Allvin has made a total of 19 trades since beginning his tenure with Vancouver � his first an as NHL general manager. He has managed to establish a winning culture, led by a plethora of young players who have cemented themselves as stars amongst the league. He will look to propel the Canucks towards their a playoff berth as they search for their first-ever Stanley Cup championship.
