LATEST | Recent comments from Elias Pettersson's agent raises concern: Headed to full autonomy
With the recent resigning of William Nylander seemingly setting the table for an Elias Pettersson extension, fans would like to see the Canucks' star locked up yesterday.
His agent JP Barry, however, says fans may need to exercise patience. That's where things can get complicated.
Given Petey's RFA status, Barry even suggested he could simply sign a one year extension and pass the issue to next summer. Doing that, would eventually lead him straight to full autonomy, meaning the Canucks would have absolitely no right over him:
The good news for Canucks fans is that "no one" seemingly includes Pettersson himself.
His agent says he just wants to focus on playing out the successful season he and the Canucks are having without the business distraction.
For now it seems like Canucks fans will have to wait on an extension and instead enjoy the winning product the team is icing.
