In net for the Kalamazoo Wings was Mariah Fujimagari, who signed a professional tryout contract (PTO) with them back in September.
Saturday's game between Kalamazoo and Toledo went to overtime where Wings forward Erik Bradford scored the winner, making Mariah Fujimagari the first female goaltender in franchise history to record a win.
For her efforts in the game, Fujimagari was named third star of the night after making 14 saves on the night, including an important one in overtime that led to Erik Bradford's winner.
It's unclear what will come next for Mariah Fujimagari, whether she'll be offered a contract by the Kalamazoo Wings or if she'll be released and potentially sign in the newly-formed Professional Women's Hockey League, which begins play in January.
The Kalamazoo Wings will open the 2023-24 season on Saturday, October 21st against the Toledo Walleye, ECHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings.
