Back in 2019, the Canucks selected what was then meant to be a very skilled power forward. Podkolzin has yet to live up to the full extent of his potential, but the time he's been spending down in Abbotsford with Jeremy Colliton has been highly beneficial.
The winger is already showing solid improvements since the season started, as he's now up to 18 points in 24 games. The Abbotsford Canucks had a game today and Podkolzin was a beast scoring two goals including the game tying goal late in the third:
The poised and confident Podkolzin the went on and scored a beauty in the shootouts, which ended up sealing the deal as they fetched the win.
This does will create an interesting problem for the Canucks' upper management. Podkolzin as yet to show that dominance at the game's highest level, but the Canucks will be needing help on their tops line before the end of the season.
Should they opt to trade Podkolzin as he's trending up? Or should they trust their developmental process and bring him up to fill that void?
