REPORT | Pair of teams have expressed interest in former Canuck Ethan Bear
According to reports, former Vancouver Canucks defenceman Ethan Bear is drawing interest from a pair of rebuilding teams - the Anaheim Ducks and Philadelphia Flyers.
The Ducks and Flyers don't have a ton of expectations next season and will more than likely end up being bottom-five teams, but it could be a good opportunity for Bear to step into one of their lineups and play a significant role.
Bear, 26, underwent shoulder surgery in June after suffering the injury during Canada's quarterfinal win over Finland at the 2023 IIHF World Hockey Championship. He was given a six-month timeline for recovery, which would put him on track to return to a team's lineup at some point in December.
The Regina native was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1st, but the Canucks opted against issuing him a qualifying offer, which made Bear an unrestricted free agent. Although, earlier this month, Bear expressed his desire to return to the Canucks next season.
In 61 games for the Canucks last season, Bear had 16 points (three goals, 13 assists), 25 penalty minutes and was a plus-six.
