The Bocktrask, Sweden native skated in 80 games during the regular season for the Canucks, setting new career highs in goals and points. Hoglander put up 36 points (24 goals, 12 assists), 51 penalty minutes and was a plus-23.
His success this past season impressed a lot of people, and with the Canucks in the market for a top-six forward, if it comes down to a trade, there is a chance that Hoglander could be involved. While the Canucks probably don't want to part with Hoglander, they may instead deal him with one of their top prospects, including Jonathan Lekkerimaki and Tom Willander.
While on Sekeres and Price, Jeff Paterson said that the Canucks should be wary of trading Nils Hoglander given his age, his goal-scoring ability and that he's on a team-friendly contract for one more season at $1.1 million.
It'll be interesting to see if anything materializes over the next few weeks and into the summer. Hoglander could be a critical piece of Vancouver's future. Still, if the Canucks have the opportunity to bring in a player like Martin Necas and the Hurricanes want the young Swede in return, then Patrik Allvin should take that deal.
