From the end of last season to the 2025 Trade Deadline, the Canucks parted ways with 13 players who had logged NHL minutes for the team, a significant number to keep tabs on.

Let's assess a list of former Canucks' players who did not close out their seasons in Vancouver.

With the regular season wrapped up, it seemed like the ideal moment to check in on former Canucks. And now that the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs is complete, just two of them remain in the postseason: Casey DeSmith with Dallas and Vasily Podkolzin with Edmonton, writes Stephan Roget from the Canucks Army.
"On to the big one. Miller had fallen a fair bit below PPG status in Vancouver this season, with 35 points in 40 games, then he matched that total in just 32 games in NYR, which is a considerable production turnaround." -Roget

Roget writes that the first of the two Canucks still in the playoffs has had a strong season as Jake Oettinger's backup in Dallas. With a winning record and a solid save percentage, DeSmith has provided everything a contender hopes for from a veteran backup, all while staying in the background and allowing Oettinger to handle the heavy lifting.
"Podkolzin still found himself a consistent spot on a playoff-bound roster, and maintained that spot even as Edmonton got healthier and added at the deadline. Now, he's up to four assists through his first six postseason games, and that's hard to ignore." -Roget

Lindholm, however, struggled in his first season with Boston. Rather than building on his playoff success with the Canucks, he reverted to the same underwhelming, barely 0.5 PPG pace he had during the regular season.
"Zadorov was one of two prominent Vancouver UFAs to sign with the Bruins, and he's definitely the one that experienced the greatest success. With Charlie McAvoy missing a good chunk of the season and Hampus Lindholm inconsistent, Zadorov was probably Boston's most important defender in 2024/25." -Roget

Mikheyev was traded to Chicago at a retained rate just before free agency began. While it may not be considered a complete bounceback, it's clear that Mikheyev took full advantage of his increased ice time with the Blackhawks.
