A trade proposal suggested last week would see Patrik Allvin reunite the Vancouver Canucks with one of their former first round picks from over a decade ago.

After a very busy July for the Vancouver Canucks, things have cooled off considerably in the month of August, despite the club wanting to bring in another forward, and as we inch closer to September, with training camp just weeks away, GM Patrik Allvin's options to add to his roster are quite limited.
The Canucks have been linked to a number of players throughout the summer, especially centermen, as the club looks to fill that 2C hole that they have, but with their top targets either off the board or too expensive, could we see Vancouver bring back a familiar face?

Trade proposal reunites Vancouver Canucks with former first round pick

In a recent article for Heavy.com, Michael DeRosa suggests that Jared McCann, who might not be a full-time centerman anymore, could be a possible fit for the Vancouver Canucks, the team that drafted him in the first round back in 2014.
DeRosa proposed a trade that would see the Vancouver Canucks bring McCann back to British Columbia while the Seattle Kraken would land a top-ten protected 2026 first round pick, along with forwards Aatu Raty and Teddy Blueger.
"Heavy Sports has a trade proposal that has Seattle sending McCann to Vancouver in a late-summer swap.

Canucks Get:

- Jared McCann

Kraken Get:

- 2026 First-Round Pick (Top 10 Protected)
- Aatu Raty
- Teddy Blueger" Michael DeRosa said.

McCann, 29, took over 250 faceoffs last season for the Seattle Kraken with a success rate of 44.7 percent, which certainly isn't ideal for someone that the club would want as their second line centerman, but the offense he would bring certainly outweighs what he can do in the faceoff dot.
During his four seasons with the Kraken, McCann's lowest point total was 50, which came in his first year in the Pacific Northwest and since then, he's only gotten better, setting a career high in points with 70 in 2022-23.
McCann has also eclipsed the 20-goal mark in each of his four seasons with Seattle and with the Vancouver Canucks finishing 24th in the National Hockey League in goals for last year, they could certainly use the boost of offense the Stratford, Ontario native would bring to the lineup.
