The Canucks were dealt a tough hand when it was revealed that Thatcher Demko would be sidelined for the entirity of the first round, at the very least.

There's been lots of talks on the Canucks since, if they're even able to maintain their level of play and be as dangerous with Casey DeSmith between the pipes.

The former Canucks Head Coach Bruce Boudreau was asked to comment on the Thatcher Demko's importance to the club. On TSN earlier, the former bench boss stated that he believed Demko was as important to the Canucks as Connor McDavid is to the Oilers.

Boudreau compared Canucks trying to win the Cup without Demko to Oilers trying to win without McDavid.

Mentioned Demko's that important to the team.

DeSmith has stepped his game up during the two games he played, but will it be enough to overcome Demko's loss?

Coming from the team's former Head Coach, it's a heck of a statement on Demko's talent. However, everybody knows that the Oilers would be nowhere near where they are without their infamous number 97.
