Canucks add 6-foot-3 defenceman from WHL with 189th overall pick
The Vancouver Canucks have added a 6-foot-3 defenceman from the WHL with 189th overall pick.
With the 189th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks have selected Parker Alcos from the Western Hockey League's Edmonton Oil Kings.
"Our next pick in the sixth round, say hello to Parker Alcos!

Daniel Gee, a scout for Elite Prospects says that Alcos is a physical blueliner and is a 'fantastic mechanical skater'. He believes Alcos' upside would have him as a fourth or fifth defenceman in the National Hockey League one day.
"The #Canucks have selected Parker Alcos with the 198th pick. He's a 6-foot-3, right-shot defender.
I saw Alcos a few times live. He is a fantastic mechanical skater, and his rush defending is high-end. He is also physical, with some breakout flashes. 4-5 upside." Gee said.
Alcos, 17, appeared in 67 games for the Oil Kings last season, putting up 15 points (one goal, 14 assists), 29 penalty minutes and was a minus-seven. Expect Alcos to get a bigger role with the Edmonton Oil Kings next season and to play significant minutes on their blue line.
