Canucks announce last minute emergency call-up
The Vancouver Canucks have recalled Abbotsford Canucks goaltender Nikita Tolopilo from the AHL on emergency basis. This comes in response to Thatcher Demko's sudden injury and questionable status for the remainder of the series.
Tolopilo, 24, has played in 35 with Abbotsford in the AHL. He boasts a 20-13-1 record along with a 2.83 GAA and a .905 save percentage. He will enter the goaltending depth chart behind Game 2 starter Casey DeSmith and rookie Arturs Silovs.
The emergency call-up was signed by the Canucks as an undrafted free agent in March 2023. The 2023-24 season was his first in North America after spending time in Sweden and the KHL.
Game 2 takes place at Rogers Arena in Vancouver on Tuesday night at 7PM Pacific Time. Vancouver currently leads the series 1-0 after a 4-2 comeback victory in the opening game.
