The AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, the Abbotsford Canucks, have announced a roster transaction on Friday morning ahead of a big weekend, with a pair of games against the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

In a post on X on Friday morning, the Abbotsford Canucks announced that they've assigned defenceman Chad Nychuk to the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL.

"The following transaction has occurred:

Abbotsford returns D Chad Nychuk on loan to Kalamazoo (ECHL)." The Abbotsford Canucks said.

Nychuk, 23, joined the Vancouver Canucks organization in 2022 after a five-year junior career with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League.

This season, the Rossburn, Manitoba native has split time between the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks and ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings. In 13 AHL games, he's recorded three points (two goals, one assist), 12 penalty minutes and has an even-rating. Meanwhile, in 19 ECHL games, Nychuk has put up ten points (one goal, nine assists), no penalty minutes and has an even-rating.

The Abbotsford Canucks will return to action on Saturday night as they host the Coachella Valley Firebirds, AHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken. The team has six games remaining in the regular season before the Calder Cup Playoffs begin.
