Canucks fear the worst for Demko: Out until the conference finals?
Every Canucks fan on the planet is praying for a quick return from injury for Thatcher Demko, but according to NHL.com's Kevin Woodley, the team may have to find a way to survive without him.
On the Donnie and Dhali podcast, Woodley said he wasn't surprised to see the Canucks update Demko's injury status from week to week and that he expects the Canucks to be without their star goalie for a while.
I don't expect to see Thatcher Demko back for this or the next round.
Woodley said anything can happen, primarily due to Demko's commitment to his craft, but he'd be surprised if the injury isn't enough to keep Demko out for at least a few weeks.
He said he feels especially bad for Demko, knowing how hard he worked to return, but he downplayed the notion that the goalie is "injury-prone."
It's a massive blow for the Canucks, and they'll have to hope the depth they've built this season can carry them through this series against Nashville, and possibly longer, as they await more news on Demko.
As heard on the Donnie and Dhali Podcast, April 24, 2024:
