Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet announced some bad news on Sunday afternoon regarding veteran defenseman Derek Forbort.

The Vancouver Canucks hit the ice on Sunday morning for practice at Rogers Arena less than 24 hours after their overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild and understandably, Derek Forbort was not participating.
Forbort was on the receiving end of a sucker punch from Yakov Trenin during last night's game against the Wild and was forced to leave for the remainder of the game.

Rick Tocchet announced Derek Forbort's injury after practice

After the team's practice today, Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet met with reporters where he revealed the injury Derek Forbort sustained last night.
Tocchet told reporters that Derek Forbort has a broken orbital bone and will miss Vancouver's final two games of the regular season this week.
"Tocchet says Derek Forbort has suffered a broken orbital bone" Jeff Paterson of Rink Wide: Vancouver said.
Trenin was ejected from the game after receiving a ten-minute misconduct for being the aggressor, as well as a two-minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct and a five-minute major for fighting.
While fans were hoping for some sort of supplemental discipline from the National Hockey League on Sunday, it doesn't look like anything is coming from the Department of Player Safety.
With Derek Forbort set to become an unrestricted free agent at 9 am PT on Canada Day, this would be a very difficult way to end his brief tenure as a Vancouver Canuck after signing with the club last summer.
There was some talk leading up to the trade deadline back in early March about Derek Forbort being moved by Patrik Allvin, but nothing materialized as the club opted to stand pat to push for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot.
The Duluth, Minnesota native ends the season with 11 points (two goals, nine assists), 45 penalty minutes and was a minus-seven in 54 games.
