The injury riddled season for the Vancouver Canucks has got even worse as head coach Rick Tocchet provided a highly anticipated but crushing injury update on forward Filip Chytil's 5th career concussion, that can potentially be a career ending injury.

After coming over to the Vancouver Vancouver in a blockbuster trade that sent J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers, Filip Chytil seemed to have found a new home in Canada as he was playing the best hockey of his career.
Unfortunately, just a few weeks into getting comfortable with his new team, A 6-2 blowout win by the Canucks over the Blackhawks was overshadowed by the awful scene that emerged.
Chicago Forward Jason Dickinson crushed Filip Chytil into the boards from behind, resulting in him having to exit the game with an apparent head injury, which was later confirmed to be a concussion.

Filip Chytil is done for the season, but his career is no doubt as well

After no news on the severity of his injury since the Canucks have been on a long, 6-game road trip, it was confirmed by head coach Rick Tocchet that Chytil is indeed suffering from a concussion, and that the chances of him playing any of the remaining games is slim.
Says Filip Chytil is likely done for the year per Tocchet. «the odds are against it»
The biggest worry for the young forward is that CTE is an every growing epidemic in the nature of contact sprots, and suffering 5 concussions puts him at high risk for developing it, which many believe he should hang up the skates for the safety of his long-term brain health.
For those who do not know what CTE is: Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, is a progressive, degenerative brain disease linked to repeated head trauma, often seen in athletes and those with a history of concussions

Rick Tocchet was asked bluntly about the concern for Chytil's career, in which he did not provide much information no clarity, which comes a red flag already.
When asked if there's concern for Chytil's career, Tocchet didn't give a definitive answer.

"I don't know because I talked to him today and he says it was different than his last concussion. The bad days aren't as bad so that's a positive."
At the end of the day, Canucks fans should not expect him to be appearing in any of the remaining games.
The answer on if his career is over will have to most likely wait until the end of the 2025 offseason when he can make a more informed decsion after months of recovery and opinions from medical professionals.
