Hockey World in Mourning as Loved Toronto Maple Leafs Goalie Suddenly Passes Away at the Age of 62
The hockey world has been struck with of sad news this season, seemingly like there has been a notable death or tragic event taking place every other day.
The same goes for today's sad news as Toronto, Ontario sprots fans were shaken up as the organization announced on social media that former netminder and beloved alumnus27 gae had suddenly passed away at the young age of 62.
We are saddened to learn that former Leafs goalie Mark Laforest (affectionately known as «Trees») has passed away.
Mark appeared in 27 games for the Maple Leafs during the 1989-90 season and after his retirement, appeared at many NHL alumni events.
Although only playing one season and 27 out of 103 career games in Toronto, he clearly made an impact, even earning an affectionate nickname "Tree's".
During that 1989-90 season, he registered a 9-14-0 record with a 3.89 GAA and .886 SV% and previously spent in Detroit, Philadelphia and Ottawa Organizations.
Following his retirement of over 10 years of professional hockey, Laforest embraced a quieter life in his hometown of Welland, Ontario, but still kept his roots strong with the Maple Leafs and Flyers.
He even appeared in several alumni games and was a special guest when the organization visited Canadian troops stationed in Kandahar.
