A projection for Brock Boeser's next contract has been released on Monday morning with a little less than two months before the Vancouver Canucks forward hits the free agent market.
In just 57 days, the National Hockey League's free agent market is set to open up and there's a number Vancouver Canucks players that can become UFAs if they're not signed by the club, most notably forward Brock Boeser.
Contract projection released for Vancouver Canucks' Brock Boeser
One major issue in contract talks between the Vancouver Canucks and Brock Boeser is term as the American forward is seeking something longer than five-years and if he ends up going to free agency this summer, he could certainly get a six or seven-year contract.
On Monday, AFP Analytics, who share contract projections and data for players around the National Hockey League, released what Brock Boeser's next deal could look like.
AFP Analytics believe that Brock Boeser is looking at a six-year contract worth a total of $50,756,340, which works out to $8,459,390 annually - a rise of just over $1.8 million.
Some comparable contracts AFP Analytics used were
Jake Guentzel's seven-year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning and
Travis Konecny's eight-year pact with the Philadelphia Flyers.
There's no question that Brock Boeser is due for a pay raise, especially after putting up 40 goals two seasons ago, however, will the Vancouver Canucks step up in the next couple of months to offer him something similar to this projection? Probably not.
When the free agent market opens at 9 am PT on July 1st, there will be a number of teams vying for Brock Boeser including the New Jersey Devils, Minnesota Wild and Detroit Red Wings.
