Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman gave a big update on Monday regarding the future of Adam Foote behind the bench with the Vancouver Canucks as we head further into the offseason.

Heading into the summer, the Vancouver Canucks knew they'd have plenty of work to do in order to improve the roster and hopefully return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs next spring, but now Patrik Allvin will have to add a coaching search to his to-do-list following the departure of Rick Tocchet last week.
Several potential replacements have emerged including Manny Malhotra, former Canucks assistants Mike Yeo & Glen Gulutzan as well as a former Stanley Cup champion - Peter Laviolette.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman gives update on Adam Foote's future in Vancouver

After the Vancouver Canucks announced Rick Tocchet's departure last week, there was a report came out suggesting that Adam Foote may also be leaving the organization as his contract was up and the team granted him permission to speak with other teams.
Now, there's still a chance that Adam Foote does leave, potentially as a head coach for another NHL team, it looks like he could be in the mix for the job in Vancouver.
During Monday's edition of the 32 Thoughts podcast, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman shared that Adam Foote will get serious consideration in Vancouver's search for their next head coach.
"According to Friedman, Adam Foote would have a serious chance as a head coaching candidate for Vancouver Canucks."
Foote, 53, has just parts of three seasons of head coaching experience under his belt, the first being with the Colorado Thunderbirds 14U AAA during the 2014-15 campaign and then with the WHL's Kelowna Rockets in 2018-19 & 2019-20.
Three years after being let go by the Rockets, Foote was hired by the Vancouver Canucks as an assistant coach on Rick Tocchet's staff.
Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford are likely going to narrow down their list of potential coaching candidates in the next couple of weeks and it wouldn't be a shock to anyone if a new bench boss is made ahead of the NHL Entry Draft.
