DeBrusk shares social media post thanking Bruins, excited to join Canucks
Newly-signed Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk took to social media recently to express his thanks to the Boston Bruins organization and his excitement to be in Vancouver.
In his post, DeBrusk thanked the Bruins for his seven years with them, adding that there will always be a special place in his heart for Boston because of the teammates he played with and the fans who cheered him on.
DeBrusk went on to add that he's excited to begin a new chapter in his National Hockey League career and to be with the Vancouver Canucks starting next season.
"Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Thank you to all of the people that I got to meet and had the pleasure of getting to know throughout my last 7 years in the black and gold. There will always be a place in my heart for Boston and that's because of my teammates that I went to battle with and the fans who were with me from the start! In saying all that I am extremely excited to start this new chapter in my career and to be in Vancouver and to put on that Canucks jersey ! #itsshowtime #cheers"
DeBrusk, 27, signed a seven-year contract worth $38.5 million ($5.5 million AAV) with the Vancouver Canucks on Monday afternoon when the free agent market opened.
By joining the Canucks, DeBrusk will have an opportunity to play alongside either Elias Pettersson or J.T. Miller, which could help him produce quite a bit offensively for Vancouver after a ten-point drop in production from the 2022-23 to 2023-24 seasons. DeBrusk also gives the Canucks another option for their powerplay unit, whether it be the first or second, and the three-time 20+ goal scorer could light the lamp a fair amount during his first season in Vancouver.
It'll be interesting to see where DeBrusk starts once training camp and pre-season games get underway in a little over two months, but once opening night rolls around as the Canucks face Calgary on October 9th, there's no doubt he'll be getting 18+ minutes a night and playing in all situations.
