Derek Forbort Officially Re-Signs With the Vancouver Canucks, But the Overpayment is Hard to Ignore

After much deliberation over the past couple of weeks on weather or not Derek Forbort wanted to re-sign with the Vancouver Canucks, it has officially be announced that the Veteran Defenseman has put pen to on a one-year deal.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with defenceman Derek Forbort on a one-year contract with a $2M AAV.
After an injury filled season for Derek Forbort with the Vancouver Canucks, he was never full able to get his feet under him long enough to make a large impact with the team.
It was believed that the 33-year-old was going to be testing free-agency after just one season with the Canucks, but the rumors speculating about Vancouver bringing in assistant coach Kevin Dean to help new head coach Adam Foote was a big factor in potentially reconsidering his decision.

The Vancouver Canucks announced just a few hours later that Forbort signed a one-year, $2 million deal, that definitely feels like an overpayment considering the season that just concluded.
This is a bit high but for 1 year, this is a fine deal #Canucks
Forbort is no slouch and is coined as a full-on stay at home defenseman that can carry some big minutes for Vancouver, but at $2 million AAV, the Canucks may now need to move on or delay the promotion of one their young guns that are the pipeline to break in.
Regardless, Forbort is reliable and most fans will be happy to have him back.
