Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson reportedly played a big role in getting the team's management group to land a top unrestricted free agent last summer.
After a difficult 2024-25 season, Elias Pettersson
says he is out for revenge and is looking to prove to everyone that not only was last year was a fluke, but he's going to bounce back in a big way starting in October.
Hearing that Pettersson is back at full health, training hard for the 2025-26 season and is motivated is great news for the Vancouver Canucks and their fans, with the 26-year-old set for his eighth year in the NHL.
Pettersson will more than likely start the season with
Brock Boeser and Jake DeBrusk as his two wingers, with the latter opening up recently about the Swedish forward's struggles and his belief in him heading into the 2025-26 campaign.

DeBrusk said that a big reason he signed with the Vancouver Canucks was because of Elias Pettersson and the possibility of being able to play on the same line as him was very intriguing.
He also shared that he believes the Swedish forward is going to bounce back this season after a tough 2024-25 campaign and also felt like he didn't do a good enough job on his wing in his first season as a Canuck.
"You look at that and as a forward, as a left-winger, I look at opportunity and I don't think I necessarily did a good enough job for him last year. I think that it's always going to get personalized with the stats and what everyone's points are like, but I don't think when I was playing with him, I gave him my best game either in fairness." DeBrusk said.
He added, "I think it took some time but I think Petey is going to have a good off-season. He is going to come back and be in good shape. The skills there. The skill, his hands, his vision. I don't think you can teach some of those things. I think you can teach some of the other things. I have a lot of faith in him. I signed a seven-year deal to play with him so I believe in him more than probably most."
While the Vancouver Canucks may have made some big changes behind the bench this summer, it still looks like there's a very strong chance Elias Pettersson and Jake DeBrusk will start the season on the same line once again, something Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects believes will be the case.
"DeBrusk was sold on the fact that he was going to get to play with Pettersson. That was part of the sell-job to get him to sign there. So I think the Canucks will continue to give him looks [on Pettersson's line]." Robinson
said on Sekeres and Price earlier this week.
With a full summer of training behind them, Jake DeBrusk and Elias Pettersson, along with Brock Boeser if he's put on that trio, have the potential to form one of the best lines in not only the Western Conference, but the entire NHL and if that happens, look for the Vancouver Canucks to be in a top-three spot in the division by the time the regular season concludes.
