Last season, Elias Pettersson had a tough time down the stretch and in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He didn't look anything like the player that he was to start the year or the season prior and during the team's season-ending media availability, Pettersson shared that he had been dealing with a knee injury since January, which could be a reason into his lack of production in the playoffs.
When speaking with reporters on Thursday, Pettersson was asked how his knee is and he said it feels fine and that there's no pain anymore, but it was a nagging injury that didn't want to go away easily, but they were able to find a way to work around it.
Hearing that Elias Pettersson's knee injury is behind him is great news for the Vancouver Canucks who are hoping he can return to being a 100-point player this coming season and the Swedish forward appears to be motivated heading into the year, with a new contract under his belt.
Pettersson will make his 2024 preseason debut when the Canucks travel to Abbotsford for a neutral site game against the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, September 25th.
