Veteran forward Evander Kane recently spoke about joining the Vancouver Canucks and being able to put on the team's jersey for the first time as a player.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin might not have been able to add that second line center that he was hoping for this summer, but he did end up making his fair share of solid moves throughout the offseason, including a trade for Evander Kane back in June, which the club hopes will not only add some physicality to the top-six, but also some additional scoring depth.
Kane, who grew up in Vancouver, talked about coming to his hometown team back in July, but admitted that it hasn't fully sunk in yet and probably won't until he pulls that Canucks sweater over his head.
"It probably hasn't even sunk in a hundred percent yet, just cause, you know, you haven't had a practice yet, you haven't gone out there and played a game in front of the hometown. So, you know, it's the middle of the summer and it's set in a little bit, but I think once training camp gets rolling and you actually get on the ice and start practicing and letting the hockey kind of take over, I think it'll sink in a little bit more and get to the know the guys a bit better." Kane said.

While Kane has yet to suit up in a preseason game with the Vancouver Canucks, the 34-year-old recently spoke with Gemma Karstens-Smith of The Canadian Press about the opportunity to wear his new team's uniform in practice after coming to games at Rogers Arena as a kid.
"It's definitely cool to be able to put on the Canucks jersey as an NHL player. The excitement has kind of been a slow build since I've gotten traded. And I think it'll start bubbling once the first regular-season game is played." Kane said.

He added, "I'm obviously born and raised here, played my junior hockey here, had a lot of success with the Vancouver Giants. So to be able to come back, I hope we can continue. I hope that career path that I've had in Vancouver, in terms of on-ice success, can continue."

The Vancouver Canucks finished last season 24th in the National Hockey League in goals for with 236 in 82 games, an average of 2.84 a night and the club is hoping that Evander Kane, who has 326 goals in 930 games - including nine seasons of 20+ goals - will be able to help them climb into the top half this year.
