The Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers have linked up for a trade on Wednesday morning involving forward Evander Kane, according to reports.

Heading into the offseason, the Vancouver Canucks and General Manager Patrik Allvin had their sights set on landing some forward help, primarily a second line center and a top-six winger.
With the departure of Brock Boeser to the unrestricted free agent market next week, the Vancouver Canucks have gotten ahead of the curve and have found a new winger for their top-six.

Vancouver Canucks reportedly acquire Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers

In a lengthy social media post on Wednesday, Evander Kane thanked Edmonton Oilers fans for the last four seasons and all the support they gave him during his time with the club.
Kane then went on to share that he's looking forward to his next chapter, which will be coming with the Vancouver Canucks.
"With that said, I'm incredibly excited for the next chapter of my career as I join the @Canucks . It's an honor to become part of an organization and team I grew up watching as a kid. Vancouver is a city that lives and breathes hockey, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to play in front of my hometown as I did many years ago as a Vancouver Giant." Kane said.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman confirmed a short while later that Edmonton and Vancouver are currently working on a deal to send Evander Kane to his hometown team, the Canucks.
"There is word this morning Edmonton and Vancouver are working on a deal that would send Evander Kane to the Canucks." Friedman said.
Kane, 33, missed the entire 2024-25 regular season due to injury, but returned in time for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, appearing in 21 games where he registered 12 points (six goals, six assists) and 44 penalty minutes.
The Vancouver native has one year remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $5.125 million US and will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, 2026.
More to come.
