A former Vancouver Canucks fan favourite has been fired from his role with a National Hockey League club after just one season on the job.

Teams around the National Hockey League have been quite busy in recent days, including the Vancouver Canucks as they prepare their respective rosters for the 2025-26 season.
Not only do teams have to figure out who will be on their rosters this fall, they're also trying to round out their staff, whether it be coaching like the Dallas Stars, who landed ex-Canucks coach Glen Gulutzan, management or in their scouting department.
For one former member of the Vancouver Canucks organization, he's looking for a new job for the 2025-26 season after being fired last week.

Former Vancouver Canucks forward fired from NHL job after one season

Last September, former Vancouver Canucks forward and fan favorite Zack Kassian announced his retirement from professional hockey after over 600 games in the NHL and was quickly hired by the Edmonton Oilers, the team he spent the majority of his career with.
The Oilers brought Zack Kassian in as a professional scout, replacing Jason Pietrzykowski, who was hired by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the same role.
In a post on social media last week, the Hello Hockey podcast with Tom Gazzola and Shawn Belle shared that the Edmonton Oilers has been let go after one season with the club.
"Oilers making changes to pro scouting department as Zack Kassian is no longer a part of the staff after just one season."
The news was confirmed a short while later by Sportsnet reporter Mark Spector, who said the Oilers are expected to make their changes official this week.
"Can confirm this report, re: Zack Kassian not coming back.
Expect an announcement on some changes in the next week or so, as GM Stan Bowman puts his stamp on the organization." Spector said on X last week.
Kassian, a native of Windsor, Ontario, spent parts of four seasons with the Vancouver Canucks where he had 59 points (32 goals, 27 assists), 287 penalty minutes and was a minus-17 in 171 games.
