A former first round pick and the son of an ex-Vancouver Canucks centerman has been named as a potential trade target for General Manager Patrik Allvin this summer.
The Vancouver Canucks
are still on the look out for some more depth down the middle and while prices are pretty high around the league for a true second line center, Patrik Allvin may have to consider his options when it comes to someone who could be their 3C.
With the free agent market quite thin, understandably given that August is less than a week away, the Canucks General Manager may have to turn his attention to the trade market if he wants to add some center depth and there's a number of intriguing options to consider.

As Patrik Allvin continues to evaluate all options in front of him, one name to potentially keep an eye on in the weeks ahead is
Cole Sillinger of the Columbus Blue Jackets, son of long-time NHLer and former Vancouver Canucks forward, Mike Sillinger.
In an article on
Daily Hive last week, Trevor Beggs mentions Cole Sillinger as a potential trade target for the Canucks, saying that the Blue Jackets could look to move on from him because of the depth they have down the middle after bringing in
Charlie Coyle in a deal with the Colorado Avalanche in late-June.
"Sillinger hasn't been able to top the 16 goals he posted in his first NHL season four years ago. With
Sean Monahan,
Adam Fantilli,
Boone Jenner, and Charlie Coyle able to play centre (not to mention top prospect Cayden Linstrom coming soon), it's easy to see the Blue Jackets try to give Sillinger a fresh opportunity." Beggs said.
Sillinger, a native of Columbus, Ohio, set a new career-high in points last season with 33 (11 goals, 22 assists), helping the Blue Jackets come close to their seventh appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Given that aforementioned depth down the middle, it looks like Sillinger could be squeezed out of his role with the Blue Jackets and either used as a winger in a bottom-six role, which certainly isn't ideal for his development, or traded away by the club.
The 22-year-old has one year remaining on his contract with a very reasonable cap hit of $2.25 million US, but cost to acquire him might be a bit high, however it would absolutely be worth inquiring to see what it would take to bring him to the Vancouver Canucks.
