An NHL reporter has shared his thoughts recently on the rumors linking Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes to the New Jersey Devils.

For a good chunk of the offseason thus far, trade rumors have been running wild involving Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, who has two years remaining on his contract with the club.
It all started back in April when Jim Rutherford admitted there is a possibility they could lose him when he's eligible to become a UFA in the summer of 2027, as it might not come down to money or term with their captain.
One thing is fact, is that the Norris Trophy winner has expressed a strong desire to play with his brothers Jack and Luke at some point in his NHL career.
The Vancouver Canucks are certainly going to do whatever it takes to get Quinn Hughes locked up to a long-term extension next summer, and are able to offer him an eight-year deal until September 15th, 2026 - when the new CBA kicks in, but if they aren't able to prove to him that they can be a contender on a yearly basis, there's a chance he may decide he wants to play elsewhere as of the 2027-28 season.

NHL reporter shares thoughts on Quinn Hughes/New Jersey Devils rumors

During an appearance on Sekeres and Price recently, Adnan Virk, the host of Amazon Prime's Monday Night Hockey gave his thoughts on the trade rumors linking Quinn Hughes with a move to the New Jersey Devils to join up with his brothers.
"Ken Danyko, who's a colleague and friend from the NHL Network, of course Mr. Devil, he's like 'Oh, it's only a matter of time before he comes to Jersey and to join his brothers here' and I'm like, not so fast, we'll see." Virk said.

He added, "I'm sure he [Hughes] knows how much he's appreciated and embraced in that Vancouver market and listen, is there an appeal to play with your brothers? Of course there would be. But I think at the same time, people kind of put the cart before the horse and assume 'Oh in a couple of years he'll be gone'. Not necessarily. I think if Quinn Hughes built a winner there in Vancouver and they have success, we all know they had a down season, he'll be more apt to stay there long term. But he's a hell of a player, no question about it."
If the New Jersey Devils were to ever approach the Vancouver Canucks in the next year, year-and-a-half to inquire about Quinn Hughes, it's very unlikely that they would be able to put together a package that would be enough for Patrik Allvin to be comfortable giving up their captain and former Norris Trophy winner.
