Former Vancouver Canucks defenseman and 2025 Stanley Cup champion Nate Schmidt is returning to the Western Conference after signing a multi-year contract.

Two weeks ago, former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Nate Schmidt became a Stanley Cup champion after parts of 12 seasons in the National Hockey League and was the first person handed hockey's greatest trophy by Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov.
The Florida Panthers have been quite active in recent days in an attempt to keep their Stanley Cup-winning roster together as they re-signed Sam Bennett, Brad Marchand and Aaron Ekblad and it forced Nate Schmidt to the free agent market to find his new NHL home.
It didn't take Nate Schmidt long to find a new club, less than three hours into the free agent market being open, and the former Vancouver Canucks defenseman is heading back to the Western Conference.
