Former Vancouver Canucks fan favourite and current Sportsnet/Hockey Night in Canada panelist Kevin Bieksa has landed a major opportunity with CBC in early 2026.

2025 has been a year that Kevin Bieksa and his family will remember for a very long time and it all started back in February when his son Cole signed a contract with the Coquitlam Express in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).
"He is a tenacious player with a lot of upside. He's a full 200-foot player who can score goals and make plays but he's also very defensively sound." Express General Manager Tali Campbell said at the time of the signing.

Six months after signing with Coquitlam, Cole Bieksa earned an invitation to training camp with the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League, while his dad was nominated for 'Best Sports Analyst' at the Canadian Screen Awards for a second consecutive year.

Wednesday marked 100 days until the 2026 Winter Olympics get underway in Milano-Cortina, Italy and for the first time in 12 years, National Hockey League players will be able to represent their respective nations.
With the National Hockey League on pause for the Winter Olympics, it means that all of their media personalities will be available to work at the Games in Italy and yesterday, CBC confirmed which members of the Hockey Night in Canada crew will be making the trip to Europe with them in February.
Among those travelling to Italy in a little over three months from now is former Vancouver Canucks fan favourite Kevin Bieksa, who will be on the panel for the Men's Hockey tournament alongside host James Duthie, Elliotte Friedman, Cassie Campbell-Pascal and Jennifer Botterill.
"The men's hockey panel will consist of James Duthie, Kevin Bieksa, Elliotte Friedman, Campbell-Pascall and Pounder.

Veteran sportscaster Chris Cuthbert and former NHL player Mike Johnson will handle play-by-play and analysis. Matt Cullen and Becky Kellar also provide commentary, while Kyle Bukauskas will serve as rinkside reporter." CBC Sports said.

Bieksa will bring his 13 years of NHL experience to the Olympic panel in February and also has some time on the international stage he can draw from as well as he captained Canada at the 2014 IIHF World Hockey Championship, leading them to a fifth place finish while registering four points in eight games.
The men's hockey tournament at the 2026 Winter Olympics will get underway on Wednesday, February 11th as Slovakia and Finland will open things up with 7:40 a.m. PT puck drop.
