The Vancouver Canucks and their rink, Rogers Arena, are reportedly in the running to host a major international hockey tournament in the coming years.

Back in February, while at the 4 Nations Face-Off, National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman shared some very exciting news regarding the future of international tournaments, such as the World Cup of Hockey, as well as their players' participation at the Winter Olympics.
Starting in 2028, the World Cup of Hockey will be returning and as the National Hockey League begins taking applications from cities across North America, and even in Europe, some information has come to light about some of those who are hoping to be a host.

Vancouver Canucks & Rogers Arena reportedly in the running to host World Cup of Hockey

After first being reported by Elliotte Friedman back in February, TSN Hockey insider Darren Dreger revealed that the Vancouver Canucks & Rogers Arena are among those who are interested in hosting games at the 2028 World Cup of Hockey.
Dreger also mentioned that the Calgary Flames (Scotiabank Saddledome), Dallas Stars (American Airlines Center), Edmonton Oilers (Rogers Place), Montreal Canadiens (Bell Centre), Tampa Bay Lightning (Benchmark International Arena) and Vegas Golden Knights (T-Mobile Arena) are also in the mix.
"It makes a lot of sense from a business perspective, and no doubt the people of Calgary want to show off their brand new building. I know that Calgary and Edmonton submitted their bids at the start of this week. It's a loose deadline, so there are 10 or more NHL cities that will submit their bids to the NHL. We're talking about Montreal and Vancouver in terms of the Canadian interest, Vegas, Tampa Bay, and Dallas, among others." Dreger said.

Vancouver's Rogers Arena is no stranger to hosting international hockey events as they held the 2010 Winter Olympics tournament, which featured Sidney Crosby's golden goal against the United States, as well as the 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
No dates are set for the 2028 World Cup of Hockey just yet, with the only real big detail being released up to this point is that it will only feature countries, no more Team Europe or Team North America like in 2016.
