The Canucks are currently holding a 3-2 lead over the Preds in this year's first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Even though the Nucks have faced lots of adversity, with Thatcher Demko and Casey DeSmith being injured, they still managed to win three.
The Canucks were one of the league's very best teams during the regular season. While it may have looked like the Preds were an ‘'easy matchup'', the goaltender injuries and their inability to produce offence have gotten them to game six. The former Canucks defenceman, now TSN analyst, pointed out the team's weakness and how it's been holding them back:
J.T. Miller has been his usual self; Brock Boeser needled that thread occasionally, but where is Elias Pettersson's offensive production? The Canucks, regular season success mainly came from their line-up depths and their star abilities to take over games, and so far in these playoffs, it hasn't happened.
