It Appears Pius Suter Is As Good As Gone With the Emergence of Three New Teams Today
Vancouver Canucks pending unrestricted free agent forward Pius Suter has been linked to a three teams with just over a month to go until the market opens on Canada Day.
The Vancouver Canucks have a number of free agents heading into the summer including Brock Boeser, Derek Forbort and Swiss forward Pius Suter, who is coming off the best season of his National Hockey League career so far.
Patrik Allvin and Pius Suter's camp negotiation during the 2024-25 season, with Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reporting in early March that both sides weren't close on an extension, adding on Donnie & Dhali a month later that the Canucks didn't like the number the Swiss forward was seeking.
"The solution for centre might be the guy who is already there. The Canucks didn't like Suter's number at the deadline but they might have to look at those numbers again. I am curious to see what happens there." Friedman said according to Rick Dhaliwal."

If Pius Suter hits the open market, which seems quite likely at this point, it's going to leave a pretty big hole down the middle in Vancouver's lineup as he played a top-six role on occasion following the J.T. Miller trade in January and even played 1C in late March & April after Elias Pettersson suffered a season-ending injury.
Once the free agent market opens at 9 am PT on Tuesday, July 1st, there will be a number of teams that'll be looking at Pius Suter as a middle-six center option for their roster next season.
In a recent article on Clutch Points, Bryan Logan took a look at three potential landing spots for Pius Suter, should he make it to the open market 32 days from now.
Those three teams mentioned by Bryan Logan are the Colorado Avalanche, Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators, all of whom will be looking for center help this summer.
"Suter would be an instant upgrade for the second line. He would not only help the second line, but also improve the power play and the penalty kill. The Canadiens are projected to have over $21 million in cap space, with their major free agent being Dvorak. Signing Suter could be an upgrade and keep them under the cap." Logan said about the Montreal Canadiens potentially being a fit.
Suter, a native of Zurich, Switzerland is projected by AFP Analytics to land a four-year contract in the range of $4.98 million annually, which would be a $3.3 million raise on the $1.6 million he's earned the last two seasons in Vancouver.
In 81 games this season for the Canucks, the 29-year-old registered 46 points (25 goals, 21 assists), 18 penalty minutes and was a plus-two.
