Manny Malholtra is proving that the Vancouver Canucks may have made a major mistake by not hiring him as the team's 22nd Head Coach in franchise history.

Earlier this month, the Vancouver Canucks promoted Adam Foote to the role of Head Coach after parts of three seasons behind the bench as an assistant on Rick Tocchet's staff.
Many were surprised that the team went with Adam Foote as their new Head Coach, especially when considering that Manny Malhotra was in the mix right until the end of their search and he's having a ton of success in his first year down in Abbotsford.

When Manny Malhotra was hired by the Canucks to become Abbotsford's Head Coach, many were wondering what kind of coach he would be and if he would be able to get the most out of his players and ensure they were working hard night in, night out, like he did during his playing career in the NHL.
It's safe to say that Manny Malhotra has exceeded expectations and has led the Abbotsford Canucks to a historic season, with a chance to cap it off with a Calder Cup championship in June.
Towards the end of the regular season, led Abbotsford to a 13-game winning streak, which helped them achieve their best-ever record in team history at 44-24-4, good for second in the Pacific Division and two points back of the leaders, the Colorado Eagles.
In the Calder Cup Playoffs, Malhotra's Canucks dispatched the Tucson Roadrunners in Round 1, the Coachella Valley Firebirds in Round 2, the Colorado Eagles in Round 3 and are currently up 1-0 in their Western Conference Final series against the Texas Stars following an overtime win in Game 1 last night.
Patrick Johnston of The Province believes that the work Manny Malhotra has accomplished this season with Abbotsford will certainly catch the attention of teams around the National Hockey League who are looking to add to their bench.
"Leave no doubt: What Malhotra has done with the Baby Canucks, landing them in the final four of the American Hockey League playoffs, has drawn notice around the NHL." Johnston said.

Malhotra has given a number of the Vancouver Canucks' prospects a big opportunity this season to show what they can bring to the organization and it's helped players such as Danila Klimovich, Nils Aman and Cole McWard take their game to the next level.
Did the Vancouver Canucks make a mistake in not hiring Manny Malhotra as their next Head Coach? Possibly, but it's way too early to tell and fans should give Adam Foote a chance before writing him off.
