A National Hockey League insider has shared which member of the New Jersey Devils the Vancouver Canucks would love to receive in return for captain Quinn Hughes.
The Vancouver Canucks have found themselves in the middle of trade rumors around the National Hockey League as Patrik Allvin & Jim Rutherford are currently exploring their options to make the team's roster younger.
While Vancouver's pending unrestricted free agents are available and will garner plenty of interest leading up to the deadline on Friday, March 6th, teams are already calling Patrik Allvin regarding team captain Quinn Hughes, including the New Jersey Devils according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
"Once Vancouver announced they were open for business, sent that email around to the league, I do believe there was a conversation, at least one, between the New Jersey Devils and Canucks about Quinn Hughes and I stress, I do not believe there is anything imminent, I don't even know that they're anywhere far along. But I do believe that conversation was had about where things stand and where they might be going." Friedman said.

At this point, while a trade isn't imminent, the New Jersey Devils are more than likely the frontrunner for Quinn Hughes as his brothers, Jack and Luke, are both with the club and he's reportedly expressed interest in playing with them at some point in his NHL career.
The return for Quinn Hughes, whether its from the New Jersey Devils, Detroit Red Wings or another club, is expected to be massive, upwards of four or five pieces coming back to Vancouver, however there is one player the Canucks are reportedly interested in, but have a long-shot at landing.
During Tuesday's edition of Donnie & Dhali, Rick Dhaliwal reported that the Vancouver Canucks would really love to bring in Nico Hischier in a Quinn Hughes trade wtih the New Jersey Devils, but it's unlikely that General Manager Tom Fitzgerald would want to part with his team's captain.
"Canucks would love to get their hands on Hischier but I don't see the Devils parting with him." Dhaliwal said.
With Nico Hischier out of the question, probably the same with someone like Jesper Bratt, the Vancouver Canucks will need to turn their attention to defenseman Simon Nemec and forward Dawson Mercer as their targets in New Jersey.
Both players fit in age-wise with the direction the Vancouver Canucks are trying to go and would play massive roles in the team's lineup, with Nemec having the potential to become a top-pairing defenseman in his career, while Mercer would be a perfect candidate to play in the 2C hole behind Elias Pettersson.
