A new first-round target has emerged for General Manager Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks to consider before the NHL Entry Draft gets underway in late-June in Los Angeles, California.

Earlier this month, at the National Hockey League's Draft Lottery, Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks found out that they'll be selected they'll be selecting 15th overall next month, the exact same position they picked Jonathan Lekkerimaki in three years ago.
Allvin, Rutherford and the Vancouver Canucks' scouting staff, who worked extremely hard this year evaluating potential draft targets, will have a big decision to make with the 15th overall pick and now that it's confirmed where they'll be picking, several different players have emerged as options for the team.

Over the last couple of weeks, a number of potential targets have been mentioned that could be available at the 15th overall selection including defenseman Kashawn Aitcheson of the Barrie Colts (OHL), forward Justin Carbonneau of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (QMJHL) and even forward Malcolm Spence, who spent the last three years with the OHL's Erie Otters and is now off to the University of Michigan in the fall thanks to the new a new agreement between the CHL and NCAA.
On Saturday, a new draft target was mentioned by Dave Hall of Canucks Army who suggests that left winger Carter Bear of the Western Hockey League's Everett Silvertips could be a name to keep an eye on next month.
"Offensively, he may not come as a pure sniper with a cannon-like shot, but Bear's ability to release pucks quickly and find soft spots in coverage makes him a challenging read for most goalies. His knack for driving to high-danger zones, often outworking bigger defenders, leads to several avenues of getting pucks in the net." Dave Hall said about Carter Bear's offensive game.

The 18-year-old had a great year with the Everett Silvertips in the WHL, where he saw a big jump in his production as he registered 82 points (40 goals, 42 assists), along with 77 penalty minutes and was a plus-33 in 56 games.
Unfortunately for Bear, he suffered a laceration to his Achilles tendon in March and was ruled out for the remainder of the season and Western Hockey League Playoffs.
However, interested teams got some good news regarding the West St. Paul, Manitoba native, as according to Marco D'Amico of RG Media, it was only a partial laceration, not a full one and that doctors believed he's recovered fully.
While Bear has just resumed skating, D'Amico is reporting that he won't be ready for the NHL Draft Combine next month, but should be able to participate at the Development Camp of whichever team selects him, which is typically held the week following the draft.
"Told that 2025 NHL Draft prospect Carter Bear only suffered a partial laceration of his Achilles tendon, which his medical team believes is fully healed.

He's begun to skate, but won't participate in the NHL Combine testing as a precaution.

Expected to be ready for Dev Camp." D'Amico said.
Bear has taken huge strides in his development this season for Everett and has emerged as a legit first-round target for many teams and would be a great fit for the Vancouver Canucks' prospect pool, if he's still around by the time Patrik Allvin makes the pick.
