A former Vancouver Canucks forward could be a potential trade target for General Manager Patrik Allvin this summer as the club searches for a second line centerman.

It's going to be a busy summer for Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin as he attempts to add to his roster with the hope of returning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2026 after a tough 2024-25 campaign.
Among the areas that Patrik Allvin needs to address is the hole left by J.T. Miller at the second line center position, where Filip Chytil slotted in following the late-January trade.

Former Vancouver Canucks captain could be potential trade target for Patrik Allvin

In a recent article on Canucks Army, Stephan Roget took a look at a potential trade target for the Vancouver Canucks and it's someone fans, and a number of players and staff, are very familiar with - former captain Bo Horvat.
The New York Islanders, Bo Horvat's current team are entering an period of uncertainty after parting ways with General Manager Lou Lamoriello last month following a disappointing season.
New York has had a rough go in the last four seasons, missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs twice, while losing in the first round the other two years, all of that following back-to-back appearances in teh Eastern Conference Final.
With the Islanders set to select first overall in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft and some solid pieces in their prospect pool, along with a handful of young stars on their NHL roster, it could be the perfect time for the organization to retool and build around whoever they select, as well as last year's first-rounder Cole Eiserman.
If the Vancouver Canucks are to pursue a Bo Horvat trade, Roget believes it'll cost Patrik Allvin picks and prospects to help them build for the future.
"Return-wise, we have to imagine that if the Islanders are looking to trade Horvat, it's because they're refocusing on their younger core.

That probably means they're looking for primarily picks and prospects coming back. And while that's not ideal for the Canucks, perhaps there is something they can put together." Roget said.

Horvat, 30, was selected ninth overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and went on to spent parts of nine seasons with the team before being traded to the New York Islanders in January 2023.
The London, Ontario native registered 57 points (28 goals, 29 assists) in 81 games this season and has six-years remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $8.5 million annually, which could be difficult for Patrik Allvin, or any other General Manager, to add.
