Colliton, 39, joined the Vancouver Canucks organization as the head coach of the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Canucks ahead of the 2022-23 season. In two seasons with Abbotsford, Colliton led the team to the Calder Cup Playoffs both years, where they'd lose in the Division Semifinals. In 144 games with Abbotsford, Colliton had a record of 80-50-14.
Prior to joining the Canucks organization, Colliton had parts of four seasons of experience as a head coach in the National Hockey League. From 2018-19 to 12 games into the 2021-22 campaign, Colliton was the bench boss for the Chicago Blackhawks. During his tenure in Chicago, the Blackhawks made the playoffs once - 2020, where they defeated Edmonton in the qualifying round before bowing out following a first round loss to the Vegas Golden Knights.
