Jonathan Lekkerimaki takes home hardware at 2024 European Hockey Awards
Vancouver Canucks prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki took home some hardware at the 2024 European Hockey Awards on Tuesday.
On Tuesday night, the Alliance of European Hockey Clubs held their eight-annual awards show and Vancouver Canucks prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki was named Young Player of the Year after a strong rookie campaign in the Swedish Hockey League with Orebro HK.

The 19-year-old appeared in 46 games with Orebro HK during the 2023-24 season where he had 31 points (19 goals, 12 assists), ten penalty minutes and was a plus-six. Lekkerimaki also represented Sweden on home ice at the 2024 World Juniors, recording ten points in seven games and was named tournament MVP.
At the conclusion of his season in Sweden, Vancouver brought Lekkerimaki over to North America to play for the Abbotsford Canucks. He skated in six games for Abbotsford, tallying his first professional goal in North America before returning to Europe to join Sweden for their World Championship camp. However, Lekkerimaki was cut from Sweden's roster.

Jonathan Lekkerimäki (Örebro HK, SWE) � Signed by Örebro from Djurg�rden, the 19-year-old right winger made the most of his opportunity in Sweden's top league. Using his devastating shot, Lekkerimäki led his team in goals (19) and points (31) � those were also high marks for a U20 player in the SHL. At the end of the season, he also got a six-game stint in the AHL, recording two points. Internationally, he was a standout at the World Juniors, leading the tournament with seven goals and claiming MVP honours, helping Sweden to a silver medal on home ice.
