On the most recent episode of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, former National Hockey League forward Paul Bissonnette was full of praise for the Vancouver Canucks and went as far as calling them severe Stanley Cup contenders after adding Elias Lindholm.

"One piece away from being Stanley Cup contenders, at least, and they do it. They're pushing all of their chips in the middle. They didn't even do so and gave up Kuzmenko and whatever assets by locking in Lindholm. Unless they lock him up, he's coming there and will still be a free agent at the end of the season. A ballsy move." Bissonnette said.

He added, "But Aquilini. They rushed the rebuild, but he was right on the money. They're going for it this year, and they have no clue what Pettersson will do. They have no idea where some of these guys will end up. So you say, this is our window. Now. They have depth scoring; why would you wait to take your chance at winning a Stanley Cup? And I agree with the move."

With how the Canucks were playing up until the All-Star break, it certainly made sense to go out into the trade market and make a big splash by acquiring Elias Lindholm. While it looks like they gave up a lot, Allvin still managed to keep his top prospects, including Jonathan Lekkerimaki and Tom Willander.

It's going to be interesting to see what Lindholm brings to the Canucks lineup for the remainder of the season. While there are still two months to go in the regular season, they've certainly set themselves up for a strong finish and, hopefully, to be the top seed in the Pacific Division and Western Conference.
