LATEST | Canucks issue a statement on their young goaltender Arturs Silovs
The Vancouver Canucks have made a post on their social media accounts celebrating goaltender Arturs Silovs.
Today, March 22nd, is Silovs' 23rd birthday and he'll be celebrating with his teammates after being called up to the Vancouver Canucks' roster last week following the news of Thatcher Demko's lower-body injury.
"Happy birthday, Artūrs ilovs! 🎉

Silovs, a native of Riga, Latvia, is having a solid year in the American Hockey League with Abbotsford and it certainly looks like he could become the Canucks' full-time backup goaltender starting in the 2024-25 season, depending on if the team lets Casey DeSmith become a free agent on July 1st.
In 33 games this season in the American Hockey League, Silovs has a record of 15-11-6 along with a 2.74 goals against average, a .907 save percentage and four shutouts.
It'll be interesting to see how many games Arturs Silovs appears in with the Canucks before Thatcher Demko returns from his injury, which likely won't be until at some point in April, ahead of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. His first opportunity this season to play in the NHL may come tomorrow in an all-Canadian matchup against the Calgary Flames.
