While the Vancouver Canucks and General Manager Patrik Allvin have their focus on the trade deadline next week and the remainder of the 2023-24 season, it's never too early to look forward to free agency in the summer.
This year's free agent class is expected to be a bit weaker than normal, with not many top names becoming UFAs, but the Vancouver Canucks may already have a local resident interested in joining the team.
During 'Donnie and Dhali' on Friday, Rick Dhaliwal shared that Surrey, British Columbia native Brenden Dillon, who is expected to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, would love to sign with the Vancouver Canucks, if the opportunity was brought forward.
Dillon, who turned 33 back in November, is in his third year as a member of the Winnipeg Jets and is playing just over 18 minutes a night this season. In 55 games, Dillon has recorded 16 points (seven goals, nine assists), 79 penalty minutes and is a plus-14.
It's still a little too early to tell how likely it is that Brenden Dillon joins the Vancouver Canucks as a free agent. There's always a chance that he could re-sign with the Winnipeg Jets, depending on their cap situation and if they want to bring him back or not.
