We're less than two weeks away from the National Hockey League's trade deadline for the 2023-24 season and things have been relatively quiet lately, but action is expected to pick up in the coming days.

The Vancouver Canucks have made some big moves this season, the most notable being Elias Lindholm, who they acquired from the Calgary Flames just before the NHL All-Star break. In that deal, the Canucks gave up a big package, which included Andrei Kuzmenko and prospect Hunter Brzustewicz, a first-round pick, along with other assets.

While the Canucks would like to add more to their roster, most likely on the blue line, don't expect them to give up another big package for a rental player, like they did for Lindholm, or make a big trade for that matter.

On Monday's edition of the 32 Thoughts podcast, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman shared that the Canucks won't give up a big package in a trade unless it's someone already under contract or someone who is a rental, but must re-sign in Vancouver.

"I heard Canucks are not interested in giving up everything they're gonna have to give up for two rentals.

If they have to give up another package to do something not small, it's something they want to keep (no rentals or must re-sign with VAN)."

It seems more and more likely that the Canucks will be in the market for depth, rather than another big addition. There's always plenty of depth players available leading up to the trade deadline and it will be interesting to see what Patrik Allvin has up his sleeve before March 8th.
