A major announcement has been made on Monday morning involving Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, who is coming off yet another strong season.

While it might have been a tough years for the Vancouver Canucks, missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the fourth time in the last five seasons, their captain Quinn Hughes was lights out for his team.
For the third consecutive season, Hughes finished with 75+ points, which earned him a nomination for the Norris Trophy and was named to the National Hockey League's second all-star team.
Hughes has been nothing short of great at the NHL level and due to an injury in February, missed out on representing his nation at the 4 Nations Face-Off, but following an announcement today, will get to next February.

Vancouver Canucks' Quinn Hughes named to USA's Olympic team

Throughout Monday morning, all 12 nations participating in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy released the first six players on their respective rosters, with Latvia naming Vancouver Canucks goaltender Arturs Silovs and forward Teddy Blueger to theirs.
Just after 10 am PT, the United States became the final team to announce their first six players that'll represent them in Milano Cortina in just over seven months from now, with Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes set to wear the red, blue and white.
Along with Quinn Hughes, the United States also named Jack Eichel (Vegas Golden Knights), Auston Matthews (Toronto Maple Leafs), Charlie McAvoy (Boston Bruins), Brady Tkachuk (Ottawa Senators) and Matthew Tkachuk (Florida Panthers) to their roster.
"We're just getting started. Introducing the first six members of the 2026 U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team #WinterOlympics"
United States General Manager Bill Guerin spoke very highly of those six players mentioned above in a recent press release, saying that they all represent excellence and are committed to helping USA Hockey achieve their goal of winning a gold medal.
"The players we've named today represent excellence. They're committed to the mission in front of us and excited about the opportunity to represent our country in the Olympics." Team USA General Manager Bill Guerin said.

Hughes, 25, has represented the United States on several occasions, most recently at the 2019 IIHF World Championship, where he put up ten points (one goal, nine assists) in eight games.
The United States will be in Group C for the 2026 Winter Olympics alongside Denmark, Germany and Latvia, and undoubtedly will be one of the top contenders for the gold medal.
