Major Concern Grows as Canucks 2025 1st-Round Pick Braeden Cootes Exits Prospect Game vs Kraken with Injury
In an unfortunate series of events, Vancouver Canucks top prospect and 2025 1st-round pick Braeden Cootes has suddenly left the highly anticipated prospect game against the Seattle Kraken with a suspected injury.
Tonight's game against the Seattle Kraken, which is apart of a two-game prospect showcase in Everett, Washington, is giving fans a first look into their team future with stars like Elias "Junior" Pettersson, Jonathan Lekkerimäki,
Tom Willander, and Braeden Cootes coming to show out.
All of whom have a real shot at making the team out of camp, considering that Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin has failed to upgrade the teams roster in a significant way.
Vancouver Canucks prospect Braeden Cootes leaves Prospect Showcase against the Seattle Kraken with an injury
Unfortunately, the highly anticipated return of hockey was highlighted by an unfortunate outcome, where 2025 1st-round Pick and top prospect Braeden Cootes had to leave the game early due to an injury.
Although it is not 100% confirmed just yet what the injury is, or how it came to be, Cootes was noticeably missing from the Canucks bench when the teams social media page notified the public that Cootes would not be returning to the game.

Forward Braeden Cootes will not return to tonight's game.
Abbotsford Canucks head coach and coach of the prospect showcase made it clear that Cootes was injured but was mostly removed due to precautionary reasons, and will have more information on Sunday after their medical staff has a chance to evaluate him
Manny Malhotra says that it was partly «precautionary reasons» that the #Canucks removed Braeden Cootes from Saturday night's game.
«We'll reevaluate him and see how he feels tomorrow,» Malhotra added.

Hopefully Malhotra's comments are true and it would be an absolute disaster to star the Vancouver Canucks season with their 2025 15th overall pick going down with an injury and delaying his development even further.
