On Friday, it was confirmed. Jeremy Colliton's time as head coach of Vancouver's AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks, was over and the team replaced him with a former fan favourite.
After the hiring was made official, Manny Malhotra commented on his return to the Vancouver Canucks organization and said that it's an incredible opportunity for himself and his family and that he's looking forward to getting started.
Malhotra, 44, spent three seasons with the Vancouver Canucks between 2010 and 2013. In 159 games with the Canucks, the Mississauga, Ontario native recorded 48 points (18 goals, 30 assists), 36 penalty minutes and was a minus-five.
It'll be interesting to see if this will be a stepping stone for Manny Malhotra to eventually become a coach in the National Hockey League with Vancouver, whether it be as an assistant or the bench boss down the line.
