New Development Breaks Down What the Vancouver Canucks Would Need to Finally Trade Thatcher Demko

An NHL insider has revealed what it'll take for the Vancouver Canucks & General Manager Patrik Allvin to trade goaltender Thatcher Demko this summer.
At the end of May, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported that Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko would be open to a change of scenery this summer with next season being the final year of his current contract.
With the play of Arturs Silovs in the Calder Cup Playoffs with Abbotsford the Vancouver Canucks could opt to go with a tandem of Kevin Lankinen and the Latvian netminder next season, making Thatcher Demko expendable this summer.
However, the Canucks aren't in any rush to trade Thatcher Demko and could even wait until the trade deadline during the 2025-26 season, but what could it take to land the two-time All-Star this summer?
Insider reveals what it could take to land Thatcher Demko this summer
In an article on The Fourth Period on Saturday, NHL insider David Pagnotta discussed the Vancouver Canucks' need for a scoring help in their top-six this summer, especially as Brock Boeser leaves the club on July 1st.
According to Pagnotta, if a team were to offer the Vancouver Canucks a young top-six forward with control, it could be enough for Patrik Allvin to consider trading Thatcher Demko.
"More on the Canucks: They are looking for ways to upgrade their scoring punch up front. If they are offered a young, controllable top-six forward by a team in need of a new No.1 goaltender, that might be enough to pry Thatcher Demko out of Vancouver." Pagnotta said.
A second line center and a top-six winger are two things the Vancouver Canucks would like to add this summer, with Jim Rutherford promising to fans that they'll be aggressive in order to upgrade their roster.
It'll be interesting which teams could show interest in Thatcher Demko this summer, with Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli wondering back in late May if there could be a reunion with former Head Coach Rick Tocchet in Philadelphia.
"Demko seemed awfully loyal to coach Rick Tocchet. Wondering if a reunion in Philadelphia is possible." Servalli said.
The Philadelphia Flyers have a big of a dilemma between the pipes, as while Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov are certainly capable of playing at the NHL level, neither are a true starter and if GM Danny Briere wants to search for goaltending help, there's no question that Rick Tocchet will likely go to him and suggest Thatcher Demko as a target.
Demko, a native of San Diego, California, had a 10-8-3 record in 23 games for Vancouver this season, along with a 2.90 goals against average, an .889 save percentage and one shutout.
