Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko is reportedly open to a change of scenery this summer, one year before becoming an unrestricted free agent.
The Vancouver Canucks are expected to be one of the busier teams in the National Hockey League this summer as there's some holes they need to fill in their forward group with Brock Boeser and Pius Suter set to become free agents on July 1st.
Jim Rutherford said earlier in May that they'll be aggressive on the free agent and trade markets to add to their roster, but himself and Patrik Allvin have some big decisions to make regarding a few of their own players, including Thatcher Demko.

Thatcher Demko enters this summer with a lot on his mind, none bigger than his future with the Vancouver Canucks organization as he has one year remaining on his contract.
Given the play of Arturs Silovs during the Calder Cup Playoffs with the Abbotsford Canucks and the fact the organization signed Kevin Lankinen to a five-year extension in February, Thatcher Demko could be expendable during the offseason.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Thatcher Demko is open to a change of scenery and will be a trade chip for General Manager Patrik Allvin this summer.
Pagnotta also shared that he's been told that Thatcher Demko is not battling any injury issues at this time, thankfully, and is already training hard for the 2025-26 season, as it's a big year for him contract-wise.
"Pettersson won't be the only topic of discussion surrounding the Canucks over the next few weeks. Goalie Thatcher Demko appears open to a change of scenery and is expected to be in play as he enters the final year of his contract." Pagnotta said.
He added, "Demko, who has a $5 million cap hit and does not own any no-trade protection, has had health concerns, but he is excited to have a normal summer. I'm told he is not battling any issues and is already training for next season, and with the Canucks committed to Kevin Lankinen, teams evaluating their goaltending position will be an option for Vancouver."

Demko, 29, will certainly be coveted by a number of teams this summer who are looking to address their respective goaltending situations, with Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli wondering if he'd be a fit with the Philadelphia Flyers, which would reunite him with his former Head Coach, Rick Tocchet.
Given the fact he's at full health, has a reasonable $5 million cap hit and is two seasons removed from being a runner-up for the Vezina Trophy, the Vancouver Canucks could receive a pretty decent haul in return, if they do opt to trade the San Diego, California native.
