More and more,
Thatcher Demko has been
spotted practicing and being more involved with team drills, which have got fans excited that he is nearing to a return, but a new report from NHL insider Nick Kypreos and Justin Bourne reveal other reasons.
On the latest episode of Sportsnet's the 'Real Kyper & Bourne', Former NHLers and analysts Nick Kypreos and Justin Bourne discuss the Vancouver Canucks and especially the injury of Thatcher Demko. They Brought on Clear Sights CEO and former NHL goalie Steve Valiquette to get his take, and he revealed that he is hearing the Canucks are pushing him to play through the injury. The nature of the injury is that it will never never heal fully, and that if he wants to play, he has to play through the pain.
After a grim start to his recovery this season, the narrative that Demko was only 2-3 weeks away from returning makes sense now. Originally, Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie and Dhali, disclosed last week that despite all of the rumors of the lack of significant progression to his knee injury, it looks like Canucks fans can expect Demko back sooner rather than later.
«I reported last week there was progress with Demko. Tocchet saying progress with Demko this week. I think he's two to three weeks away. Let's play it by ear, and I think that if he can get back in two or three weeks, that would be good.» - Rick Tocchet
If the only way for Demko to return to playing the game he loves, is to risk further injury and play through the pain, than that is what he will have to do, if not, the alternative is a lot more sad.
